Ever since Sam had brought to the ward, no matter what doctors did, he still saw nightmares. Terrible, terrible nightmares from where he woke up from screaming and covered in cold sweat. He didn’t talk.

But there was this thing, that happened. Sam was quite sure he was seeing things, but his roommate looked exactly like Castiel. But Castiel was dead so it was impossible. That angel drowned in the lake months ago. It was impossible that he was here with him.

Or then he was really going crazy. He shouldn’t have never given in on Lucifer. This was worst kind of torment. It was alright seeing and feeling Lucifer rip him apart, but bringing his dead friends in his sight was just plain cruel.

Castiel’s ghost never really spoke to him. Just watched him with his angelic, wide eyes, looking like he was very confused. As if he knew Sam, but just couldn’t put his finger on from where or if it was just his imagination. Sam ignored him. He was just a hallucination.

But that one night, when Sam woke up screaming and nurses had given up on him, Castiel finally moved from his bed. In quiet steps he crossed the room, approaching his roommate. Sam just screamed and clutched on the sheets like he was choking on them.

Angel’s ghost’s slender frame moved next to him. Sam nearly bashed him right in the face, but for his surprise his hand didn’t pass him. Ghosts weren’t solid. He froze for a moment, eyes wide, staring at Castiel like he stared back at him. He said nothing, just laid next to him and pressed against Sam’s side, his hand pressing carefully on man’s stomach.

Sam was still motionless. His heart hammered. Castiel was warm against him. As angel relaxed and gave a stroke on Sam’s stomach, telling it was alright.

That night Sam slept for the first time in ages.
